Rick Smith has been the chief executive officer of SECURUS Technology since 2008; a position he was deemed right for due to his extensive level of experience mixed with tenacity and focus. He has been able to progress the company in addition to making it an uncontested leader in correction facilities in service provision and delivery of quality products. Rick Smith holds an impressive track record and has acquired a pretty distinctive set of skills working in Business development, telecommunications, Finance, Operations, and Information Technology just to name a few. SECURUS Technologies is an organization headquartered in Dallas, Texas, under Rick Smith’s leadership. Rick Smith has a very strong educational history. He acquired an associate’s degree from Rochester Institute of Technology in addition to receiving a bachelor’s degree in engineering from the State University of New York, Buffalo. Rick Smith also holds a master’s degree in engineering from the State University of New York. He later earned an MBA from the Simon School of Rochester Institute of Technology.
Prior to joining Securus Technologies- Rick Smith worked with Global Crossing North America Inc. He served as a controller and chief information officer. Rick Smith also served as the vice president of the company’s Financial Management, director of Business Development Frontier Information Technologies, Network Plant Operations Director, as well as the Midwest Telephone Operations’ vice president.
Securus Technologies announced in July 2015 that it had made the necessary arrangements to acquire JPay Inc which is the market top technology company that pioneered educational related apps, electronic payments, email, and a host of entertainment to correctional facilities. The company is currently active in more than 33 state prison systems. Rick Smith says that the transaction drives Securus into the most progressive segments in corrections. Rick Smith is therefore said to continue the running of JPay as a fully owned subordinate of Securus, enabling it to continue operating as per usual but with the added incentives from Securus’ resources.
Rick Smith considers Securus Technologies a great investment as product and service development suggestions are put forth at least once per week with the aim of offering assistance to law enforcement and correction centers. He adds that Securus Technologies receives tons of letters and emails on customer appreciation for the great service rendered and their assistance in keeping the society safe.
